Jones Vargas recognizes its obligation to give back to the communities that have made our success possible. Our lawyers have fulfilled that obligation in a wide variety of ways. From the earliest days of the firm, members of Jones Vargas have devoted themselves to the public interest of the state by serving as elected officials (two governors, four state senators, numerous members of the state assembly, and pro tem judges), appointed members of state and county boards and commissions, and members of many charitable, non-profit, and public interest organizations.
The firm encourages its young lawyers to become involved in community activities, and generously supports their efforts. We do not believe that a lawyer can be successful without being fully involved in the community.
Jones Vargas lawyers have served as officers, directors and board members of numerous community organizations, including the: Board of Governors – State Bar of Nevada, Boy Scouts of America - Boulder Dam Counsel, Civil Rights Committee of Las Vegas Anti-Defamation League, Clark County Law Foundation, East Las Vegas Community Development Corporation, Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow, I Have A Dream Foundation, Latin Chamber of Commerce, Lawyers' Representatives to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference, Nature Conservancy of Nevada, Nevada Development Authority, Nevada Diabetes Association for Children and Adults, Nevada State College Diversity Board, Nevada Women's Fund, Peace Corps, Reno Cancer Foundation, Rotary International, Stillpoint Center for Spiritual Development, United Way, UNLV College of Liberal Arts Community Advisory Board, UNLV Taskforce on Equity and Diversity, Renown Health System and Washoe Legal Services.
